Viewer - Installation Instructions 

We have standardized our document and image types to include the following :

• CAD drawings : Autodesk *.DWF
• Word Processing : MsWord *.DOC
• Spreadsheets : MsExcel *.XLS
• Desktop Publishing : Adobe Acrobat *.PDF

All of these file formats require the software other than your internet browser to view. The viewers work as 'plug-in' programs within your browser and allow you to view the ProNet documents faster and easier. The following is an overview of the viewers available for the four file formats.

CAD DRAWINGS

Autodesk DWF - Requires A Whip driver plug in installed:

The WHIP!™ viewer allows you to open, view and print drawings in the Drawing Web Format (DWF). The WHIP! viewer is free, runs inside a Web browser, and allows high-speed dynamic zooming, panning, and navigating. It's based on the same high performance graphics technology that powers AutoCAD® Release 14 and 3D Studio MAX®.

WORD PROCESSING

Microsoft Word DOC - Requires One of the Microsoft Word Viewers

Microsoft Word Viewer is a small application that enables Word users to share their documents with people who do not use Microsoft Word for Windows®. Word Viewer allows users to view and print Word documents exactly as they appear in Word. It gives users the flexibility to view page layout, zoom, outline, headers/footers, footnotes, and annotations. Word Viewer allows users to read and print Word documents, but it does not allow them to edit documents. Users may, however, copy information from Word documents and activate OLE objects embedded within them.

There are 2 versions of Microsoft Word Viewer:

If you have MsWord 95 or later installed on your hard drive, clicking a link within the ProNet will automatically launch the program and open the file. The viewer however, provides a faster and easier interaction within your browser.

SPREADSHEETS

Microsoft® Excel XLS - Requires the Miscrosoft Excel Viewer

The Microsoft Excel Viewer is a small, no-charge, freely distributable program that lets people view and print Microsoft Excel for Windows (version 2.0 and greater) and Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh® (versions 2.2a and greater) spreadsheet files. Microsoft Excel Viewer gives users the flexibility to view page layout, copy, zoom, AutoFilter, and control cell sizes. The Microsoft Excel Viewer supports OLE DocObject as well as the ability to view any Microsoft Excel file.

DESKTOP PUBLISHING

Adobe Acrobat PDF - Requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader

The free Adobe(R) Reader allows you to view, navigate, and print PDF files across all major computing platforms. Acrobat Reader is the free viewing companion to Adobe Acrobat 4.0 and to Adobe Capture(R) software.
